The World Karate Association Shidokan is pleased to invite competitors from all of our overseas branches to The 46th Shidokan Open International Championship, to be held on Sunday, 1 November 2026 in Hamamatsu, Japan.
This is our annual international championship, bringing together athletes from Shidokan branches around the world. Entries are open in 74 categories, covering Shidokan Karate, Full Contact Karate, Glove Karate, Sport Karate, Kata and Samurai Rules, for adults, masters, women, and children from four years of age.
Event Details
Date: Sunday, 1 November 2026. Doors open and reception from 9:00 AM. Opening ceremony at 9:30 AM.
Venue: Hamamatsu Industrial Exhibition Hall, 20-2 Ryutsu-Motomachi, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan.
Organiser: World Karate Association Shidokan. Supported by Hamamatsu City and the Hamamatsu City Board of Education.

How to Apply
Complete the Group Entry Form on a computer and e-mail the Excel file to the Championship Office at info@y-shido.com. Please note that PDF files are not accepted.
Each branch submits one Group Entry Form for all of its competitors. The Individual Entry Form is for your own records within the branch and should be given to your Shihan or person in charge. Please use one row per event, and enter the competitor’s name exactly as it appears in their passport.
Application deadline: the entry form must arrive by Tuesday, 15 September 2026. This deadline is strictly enforced.
Entry Fees
High school age and above: 10,000 yen per competitor per event. Boys and girls division: 5,000 yen per competitor per event. For a double or triple entry, each additional event is charged at half price. Entry in the Kata division only is 5,000 yen.
Overseas competitors pay the entry fee in cash at the reception desk on the day. There is no need to arrange an international bank transfer beforehand. Please bring the exact amount in Japanese yen. Fees are not refunded once paid, so please check your categories carefully before you enter.
Admission for spectators is 2,000 yen, tax included. Two tickets are provided for each competitor, and two for each branch representative.
On the Day
Please assemble at the venue by 9:00 AM on 1 November, follow the staff’s instructions, complete reception and the weigh-in, and prepare for your matches.
A weigh-in is also available on the previous day, Saturday 31 October, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the venue. Weight limits are strictly enforced. A competitor over the limit for their class is disqualified and cannot be moved to a higher class.
Know your match times and be ready no later than three matches beforehand. A competitor who is absent when the match begins is disqualified. Up to two seconds (cornermen) are allowed.
What to Bring
Each competitor must prepare their own foul cup and wear it under the karate gi. Please also bring your own head guard with a face cover, and a red cord. A mouthguard is optional but recommended. Protective equipment required for each division is set out in the Judging Regulations, so please check the rules for the categories you enter.
The organisers bear no responsibility for injuries or accidents during matches. Please do not compete if you are unwell or have not fully recovered from an injury.
Getting to the Venue
Parking at the venue is limited and parking on the surrounding streets is prohibited. The area is expected to be busy, so please use public transport.
